Friends,
Over the last few weeks, I’ve shared some of the successes of our State Freedom Caucuses from this year’s legislative sessions, proving the model that we built from the House Freedom Caucus in D.C. is working… and working well!
Elections are the cornerstone of our republic but public trust in the integrity of the voting process is at an all time low. Without secure elections, our republic is destined to fall.
One of the most egregious election interferences we face are states with open primaries, allowing cross-over voting between the parties. As a result, red states have seen their Republican primaries flooded with Democrats, leading to victory for RINOs in areas where the electorate is overwhelmingly conservative.
The Wyoming Freedom Caucus took this fight head on and was able to successfully pass HB 103 that closes the state’s primary elections to prevent interference from cross-over voting. The Liz Cheneys of the future will have a much harder time getting elected thanks to the Wyoming Freedom Caucus.
But the fight in Wyoming was just the beginning. Many of our other State Freedom Caucuses made election integrity a top priority before 2024, resulting in massive wins across the country:
The Arizona Freedom Caucus successfully led efforts to place a resolution on the 2024 ballot to ban ranked choice voting and also successfully led efforts to kill SB 1518 which would have permitted early voting ballots to be verified without a signature.
The Georgia Freedom Caucus successfully led the efforts to kill HB 200, a bill that would have enacted Ranked Choice Voting in the state. They also helped pass HB 222 to ban “Zuckerbucks,” which consists of tax-exempt charitable organizations providing direct or indirect support to the official election process.
The Idaho Freedom Caucus pushed a law prohibiting Ranked Choice Voting (HB 179) and successfully sponsored legislation banning the use of student ID cards at the polls (HB 124).
The Louisiana Freedom Caucus successfully introduced and passed a Constitutional Amendment through the legislature to ban “Zuckerbucks” in the state. The Amendment will be on the ballot on October 14, 2023 for citizen approval.
After the Mississippi Freedom Caucus was unsuccessful in passing an anti-ballot harvesting bill in the 2022 session, the MSFC circulated a public petition collecting thousands of signatures, setting the stage for two anti-ballot harvesting bills in the 2023 session. The MSFC successfully authored and passed HB 1306, which codifies the crime of ballot harvesting and disqualifies any candidate for office who has failed to file all financial or ethics reports within the last 5 years preceding the election. The MSFC also helped champion and pass SB 2358, which further defined ballot harvesting and gave legislative intent for the crime.
The Montana Freedom Caucus successfully championed a “Zuckerbucks” bill, Senate Bill 117, which ensured that all funding for elections is paid for by Montanans’ tax dollars without outside influence.
The South Carolina Freedom Caucus filed a lawsuit against a state law which restricted any legislative caucus that was not constituted by one of the major parties from engaging in elections, campaigning, or fundraising for candidates. A Federal Judge ruled in favor of the South Carolina Freedom Caucus’s argument, stating that the law violated the 1st and 14th amendments.
The South Dakota Freedom Caucus successfully led a grassroots initiative to create greater transparency in the election process by demanding filing records be made public. Subsequent legislation was introduced and enacted resulting in the state’s first election audit.
These accomplishments are solid steps in the right direction, and they should be applauded, but they are simply not enough. Much more needs to be done to help restore trust in our elections. As our Network expands into more states and as more members join each caucus, we pledge to keep fighting for election integrity. Imagine what we could do if we had a Freedom Caucus in all 50 states!
If you share our vision and want to support our efforts, please donate as we take the fight for conservative values and individual liberty all over America.
Keep fighting,
