Friends,
With states gaveling into their 2025 legislative sessions, we anticipated that this would be a big week and our state freedom caucuses didn’t disappoint. We launched in a new state and publicly supported efforts to stop non-citizens from voting in American elections. Several of our states announced their legislative priorities for the year, and some publicly responded to their respective governors’ “State of the State” address. And to boot, we got national coverage in the New York Times, the Associated Press, and Fox News. So grab some coffee because we have a lot of updates to share with you.
MARYLAND FREEDOM CAUCUS
I traveled to Annapolis, Maryland on Tuesday to help launch the Maryland Freedom Caucus with House Freedom Caucus Chairman, Congressman Andy Harris (who represents Maryland’s first congressional district). Maryland is the 13th state that the Network has helped launch. The MDFC will be lead by Delegates Matt Morgan (Chair) and Kathy Szeliga (Vice-Chair). The Network also hired Ali Rak, our amazing Maryland state director who is going to help the MDFC amplify the voices of the forgotten men and women in the state who have been ignored by the Democrats for far too long. Economic freedom, reducing the size and scope of government, and fighting the Democrat Governor’s tax hikes will be top priorities.

The Baltimore Sun newspaper covered the event:
“This isn’t a red agenda, blue agenda — this is an American agenda that is based on promise, and we’re going to continue to push Maryland to be safer, freer and more prosperous,” [MDFC Chair Matt Morgan] said.
STOPPING ILLEGALS FROM VOTING IN AMERICAN ELECTIONS
Several of our state freedom caucuses have already helped to ban non-citizens from voting in our elections - namely Arizona, Louisiana, South Carolina, South Dakota, Missouri, and Oklahoma. But even more importantly, we need to pass the SAVE Act in Congress, sponsored by House Freedom Caucus member, Rep. Chip Roy and Senator Mike Lee. So all of our state freedom caucus chairmen signed a joint letter and delivered it to Congress. Fox News had the exclusive:
Twelve state chairs of their respective State Freedom Caucuses, part of the State Freedom Caucus Network, are writing to members of Congress and urging them to pass the Safeguard American Voter Eligibility (SAVE) Act.
"Illegal immigration was a top electoral issue for millions of voters and their message was heard loud and clear with the election of Donald J. Trump as the 47th President of the United States. Now it’s time for Congress to listen," they say in a letter to lawmakers, obtained first by Fox News Digital.
THE WYOMING FREEDOM CAUCUS IS IN CHARGE!
For the first time in history, a state freedom caucus - the Wyoming Freedom Caucus - holds a majority of the members in their state house. On Tuesday, WYFC member Chip Neiman was sworn in as Speaker.
STATE FREEDOM CAUCUS PRIORITIES
One key aspect of a state freedom caucus is to be very public and intentional about what its priorities are, so that voters can understand its goals and rally support around them. This is in stark contrast to the Swamp, which often hides its agenda or uses smoke and mirrors to deceive the voters. Below are just some examples of what our states are doing - the South Carolina Freedom Caucus even reminded the public that their priorities are explicitly listed in the SC GOP platform. So the Columbia Swamp can’t wave them away as not important. Cutting taxes and spending, expanding school choice, safeguarding elections, judicial reform, and much more are included:

MEDIA COVERAGE
All of this activity by our state freedom caucuses was made possible because of YOU. And the media picked up on it. In addition to Fox News, the liberal New York Times wrote a lengthy profile piece about the Wyoming Freedom Caucus. The NYT interviewed several WYFC members, U.S. Senator Cynthia Lummis, the liberal Republican governor, the RINOs who were defeated by WYFC-endorsed candidates, and others. The article ends with this quote:
[WYFC member and incoming Speaker Chip] Neiman and his leadership team said they were humbled, as business owners and political neophytes, to steer their state.
“I give the Lord credit for the success we’ve had,” said Mr. Neiman, a cattle rancher, speaking from a government building in Casper, after meeting with the Republican caucus. “I honor him in my decision-making, and I just rely on Him to guide my actions and thoughts.”
Mr. Neiman opened a handsome wooden box. Inside was a ceremonial gavel, made from a cedar tree on his ranch, courtesy of Representative Bill Allemand, a Freedom Caucus member.
“Elections have consequences,” Mr. Neiman said.
The Associated Press also weighed in on the Wyoming Freedom Caucus’s success, but it also looked at the growing success of your State Freedom Caucus Network. Excerpt:
A Washington Movement Into The States
The Freedom Caucus has been active in the U.S. House since 2015, gaining widespread attention when some of its members helped topple former House Speaker Kevin McCarthy during the last session of Congress.
An outgrowth of the group, the State Freedom Caucus Network, launched in 2021 in Georgia and has been spreading to other states since then. It has about 175 members this year — up more than a quarter since the 2024 elections, Roth said.
The Freedom Caucus nearly doubled its ranks in South Dakota after last year’s elections and now counts the House leaders — though not members — as allies who “see things in a very similar light as far as legislation goes,” said Rep. Aaron Aylward, vice chairman of the state’s Freedom Caucus chapter.
In Wyoming, the list of incumbents ousted by Freedom Caucus-endorsed candidates included House Speaker Albert Sommers, who was attempting to move up to the Senate, and House Speaker Pro Tem Clark Stith.
BOTTOM LINE
We couldn’t be more proud of the amazing work that the State Freedom Caucuses have done so far this year. And as supporters, we hope you are too. But do you know what is even better than all of this The best is STILL YET TO COME!
Keep fighting,
Andrew Roth
