Friends,
Believe it or not, Louisiana spent the last eight years suffering under a Democrat governor. He claimed to be moderate, but would block conservative reforms at every turn.
That changed last October when Louisiana elected a conservative governor in Jeff Landry, who received over 50% of the vote to avoid a runoff in the state’s jungle primary system.
But not only was Landry elected, the Louisiana Freedom Caucus, which we helped launch last year, doubled its size from 9 members to over 20 members.
Well, the first legislative session with new conservative leadership in Louisiana just wrapped up.
In addition to cutting the budget - IN REAL TERMS - by $3 billion and passing universal school choice, here’s a list of every Louisiana Freedom Caucus-led bill heading to Gov. Landry’s desk:
HB745 Universal school choice
SB1 Constitutional Carry
SB388 Allows state police to arrest and deport illegal aliens
HB357 Ban Central Bank Digital Currencies (CBDCs)
HB47 Ban COVID vaccine mandates
HB121 Require teachers to use pronouns according to sex on birth certificate for students
HB873 Closed primary elections for members of Congress
SB262 Ban teaching of DEI in schools
HB122 Ban teaching of sexual orientation and gender identity in public schools
SB208 Ban sanctuary cities
SB101 Ban rank choice voting
SB194 Bans local governments from passing firearm restrictions greater than state law
HB373 Fines protesters who picket outside personal residences
SB234 Prohibit companies from discriminating against firearm industry
SB195 Work requirements for SNAP
Constitutional amendment to ban Zuckerbucks
HB976 Mandate visitation at healthcare facilities
HB608 “What is a Woman” bill codifying the definition of men and women in state law
SB 420 Creates a crime of election fraud or forgery
SB 294 Bans college campus groups funded by terrorist organizations
HB383 Limits liability for people in fear of their life while rioters are illegally blocking a road
HB47 Mandates notification of vaccine exemptions in schools
HB205 Expands RICO and racketeering crimes for organized riots
HB373 Fines protesters who picket outside personal residences
SB214 Allows conceal carry of firearms in restaurants that serve alcohol
It’s safe to say that Louisiana is becoming the new Florida!
While this was all triumphant legislation, we consider this nothing more than a good start. The Louisiana Freedom Caucus will not rest until they’ve created a bastion of conservative leadership that Republicans should be fighting for every single day.
Every single red state in America is capable of something like this, but they are being held back by weak Republicans - not just the Democrats.
That’s what our organization is attempting to fix.
Louisiana is a leading example of what State Freedom Caucuses can accomplish.
You can help create more Louisianas by donating to help the State Freedom Caucus Network expand! If we can’t get involved in more states due to a lack of funding, we can’t succeed! Help us now so we can defend family, faith, and freedom in all 50 states!
Keep fighting,
