Friends,
Last week, The Daily Wire published a series of stories about our work.
You can read them here, here and here.
“What the State Freedom Caucus Network does is take these part-time lawmakers and give them staff and a full year-round operation,” SFCN President Andy Roth told Daily Wire in the first story. “All of the big issues occurring right now are at the state level. School choice, ESG, CRT, porn in our schools, election integrity, abortion – all of those are state issues.”
The second story focuses on the problem of red state RINO legislatures. When you think of places that have Republican lawmakers with the most liberal voting records, you’d probably think they come from states dominated by Democrats like Washington, New Jersey, Massachusetts, or Colorado.
But it’s actually legislatures in the reddest states in the nation that have the biggest RINOS. The chart below lists the overall voting records of Republicans in state legislatures from most liberal to most conservative.
The two most liberal in the nation? Hawaii and South Carolina. Now you know why the SC House GOP leadership kicked the SC Freedom Caucus out of the Republican caucus.
Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia, Utah, and Louisiana Republicans all have less conservative voting records than Colorado, Maine, Minnesota, Washington, Maryland, and New Jersey.
In Wyoming, the state Donald Trump won in 2020 by a greater percentage than any other, there are only five Democrats in the state House of Representatives. If you look at the voting records of all the members, however, the Democrats might as well have a majority. This is a big reason why WY’s Speaker of the House Albert Sommers blocked common sense bills in the last session for school choice, parental rights in schools, and to bar children from going through dangerous sex change surgeries.
When Democrats gain control of state governments, they ram far-left policies down the throats of the GOP minority. When Republicans gain control, they can’t even pass universal school choice.
“You might look at the list and see a lot of Republicans, but it doesn’t necessarily mean that they’re conservative,” Louisiana Freedom Caucus Secretary-Treasurer Rep. Beryl Amedée said to The Daily Wire. “We have a minority of conservative Republicans in office, with a majority of the leadership–no matter which party they are listed with–pushing policies that are still fairly liberal.”
Daily Wire’s second story about our work focuses on why some of the reddest states have Republican legislators governing like liberals. A big culprit? The primary system. Ten Republican states have open primaries where voters of any party can vote, leading to Democrats meddling in the system to stop conservatives from winning. Louisiana also has a “jungle primary” system where the top two vote getters go to a runoff regardless of party, leading to more moderate Republicans getting elected over conservatives.
This leads the biggest issue of all: Liberals running with an R next to their name. This is a systemic problem that is happening in your own backyard and conservatives simply are not paying attention to it. When you vote for your state representative, do not assume they will adequately represent you just because they register as a Republican.
That’s also the reason we started the State Freedom Caucus Network and are working to disrupt the status quo in these lawmaking bodies that are simply not representing their conservative voters.
It’s a long road ahead and your help is critical in building out a network of patriots and freedom fighters throughout our nation’s state capitols. Support the State Freedom Caucus Network today.
Keep fighting,
Andy Roth
