Anybody who has been to a gas station knows how expensive filling up your car has become in Joe Biden’s America. The reason why is obvious: The Biden Administration singlehandedly reversed our country’s energy independence and rapidly began pushing the destructive green energy agenda on the American people.
So in this moment when Americans are feeling unprecedented pain at the gas pump and the grift of the climate change industry has been fully exposed, you’d think Republican governors would be doing everything they can to support the oil and gas industries in their states, right?
Well, you would be wrong.
Wyoming’s “Republican” Governor Mark Gordon decided to travel to Harvard last week to give a speech to left-wing academics about how he wants to make the Cowboy State “carbon negative.” That’s right. The governor of a state with one of the largest oil and gas industries in America pushed for green energy at the bastion of socialist politics in America.
"Frankly, I was embarrassed," our WYFC Chairman Rep. John Bear fired back in an interview with Fox News. "At a time when Western governors should be embracing the idea of energy independence and pushing back on the anti-American, Biden agenda, we can't afford to give an inch to the anti-fossil fuel crowd and their utopian view of green energy,” he added.
The WY Freedom Caucus called on Gordon to give his Harvard speech again, except this time, do it in Wyoming with Wyoming voters in the audience. So far, the governor has ignored that invitation.
As we have said time and time again, it turns out that a lot of Republican politicians will say conservative things on the campaign trail, but will not hesitate to sell out to special interests such as the green energy lobby.
The reason we are starting State Freedom Caucuses all over America is to hold these sellout Republicans accountable and to secure red state policies that conservative voters deserve.
The Fight For School Choice in Illinois
Illinois Democrat Governor J.B. Pritzker, as well as the Democrat Senate Majority Leader and Speaker of the House, all send their kids to private schools. Yet this past Memorial Day weekend, Pritzker decided he wants to sunset the only school choice program in the state.
And here’s the thing: The “Invest In Kids” Program is not even financed with taxpayer-funded vouchers. It simply allows individuals to donate to private school scholarship funds and receive a tax credit of up to 75% of their donation. Since it began, nearly 41,000 scholarships have been awarded to students from low-income and working-class families.
The teachers’ unions make no secret that they want Illinois to be the first state in the Union to repeal a school choice program. But the program is very popular with voters so the Democrats are in a huge bind. Pritzker says he wants to extend the program, but as we mentioned, he wants it to sunset. And he’s using zero political capital to pressure the legislature to reauthorize it. Meanwhile, the Democrats in the legislature are heavily divided on the issue.
And let’s not forget the Republicans who are complicit on this issue. Dozens of Republican lawmakers currently receive donations from teachers’ unions. This is why, as we reported before, the Illinois Freedom Caucus called on the Illinois Republican Party to ban Republican lawmakers from taking these donations. In fact, the only Republicans who are actively supporting the “Invest in Kids” program is the IL Freedom Caucus and their allies.
Activists from all over the state have descended on Springfield to demand their elected officials save the “Invest In Kids” program, with the Illinois Freedom Caucus welcoming them to the Capitol with open arms.
The clock, however, is ticking and the state, as well as the country, will be watching closely to see just how much Democrats are controlled by the puppet strings of the teachers’ unions.
Idaho
The American Library Association (ALA) keeps digging its own grave. It was recently discovered that its president - a self-described Marxist - donated to the New York Democratic Socialists who held a pro-Hamas rally last week.
The ALA is not a sleepy non-profit that merely provides innocuous guidance and training to our country’s libraries. They have an aggressive agenda to socially engineer our kids by inserting socialist ideas in our libraries — using our tax dollars to do it.
But thanks to our national coordinated efforts, more and more library associations are finally cutting ties with the ALA.
Thanks to pressure from the Idaho Freedom Caucus, Kootenai and Shoshone Counties became the latest ones to do just that. And Alabama just recently severed ties as well.
We are going to end the poisonous influence the ALA has on our libraries one county and one state at a time.
South Carolina
The left-wing assault on our classrooms is prevalent even in a red state like South Carolina. Pornographic books are being found in the schools of Charleston County and the school board is doing nothing to put a stop to it.
SC Freedom Caucus member Rep. Jordan Pace led a rally of parents calling for smut to be removed from the schools.
