The Mission

In 2015, a group of conservative House Republicans frustrated with the leadership of Speaker John Boehner met in Hershey, Pennsylvania and formed the House Freedom Caucus. It’s founding members included today’s conservative heavyweights like Rep. Jim Jordan, former White House Chief of Staff Mark Meadows, and Governor Ron DeSantis. Their mission was simple: shake up the status quo in the Republican Party.

For too long Republicans run as conservatives and then fall into bed with the lobbyists and special interests in DC. The Freedom Caucus sought to hold their party accountable when they failed to keep their promises to the voters. Ever since it began, the group has been involved in some of the most high profile policy battles in Congress, cumulating with holding up the election of Rep. Kevin McCarthy to Speaker of the House until he made significant concessions to ensure a Republican majority that will govern as an America First party should.

Despite the success of the HFC, the federal government today is still larger and has more authority than ever before. The permanent administrative state, filled with unelected bureaucrats, has run roughshod over our state legislatures and consolidated power. On top of that, Republican state legislatures are full of the same RINOs in Congress that refuse to stand up for the rights of the people who elected them.

The bottom line is that swamps do not just exist in Washington D.C. They fester in state Capitols all over America from Columbia, South Carolina to Helena, Montana. That’s why former Club for Growth Executive Director Andy Roth and former HFC Executive Director Justin Ouimette formed the State Freedom Caucus Network in 2021. Our mission is to establish State Freedom Caucuses and provide the high-level staff, strategy, and community conservatives need to take ground across the country.

From Election Integrity to CRT, the most important fights of today are happening in the states. The policy battles in your state capitol effect your life in a much greater way than those of Congress. SFCN will provide conservatives the resources they need to win.

"The reason I helped launch the House Freedom Caucus in the U.S. Congress is because I knew it would be a game-changer in advance of limited government and conservative values. And it was. Now it's time to take it to the states and the State Freedom Caucus Network is going to help make it happen.” - Former Trump Chief of Staff Mark Meadows
